What's in the Works for 2009-2010?
As this new year begins, my science students will be taking a census of all the living creatures in our wildlife habitat. The drought and extreme heat have not made survival easy this summer. Still, our native Texas species are alive and well; it is the few non-native species which are stuggling the most. We now have over 125 plants representing 30 plant species and 15 plant families in our Wildlife Garden and Schoolyard Habitat. Summer Science students were pleasantly surprised to watch the Monarch and other butterfly species feed on the Eupatorium nectar. We look forward to all the field investigations to come in this lovely outdoor classroom! Keep an eye out for our updated species list.
